Some Tips on Using the www.Tigers87.com Bulletin Board

(Author: Dana Lattin '87)

When you go into the site (past the picture of the school), you'll come to the main page.....

This is the Forum Index Page. The first "box" you'll see at the top of the page says Forum in orange on the blue stripe. That box will eventually have lots of different discussions in it. For now, it just has one.

Click the term that says Test Forum 1

That should take you to a screen that has a lot of different Topics (questions) that are being posted/discussed (favorite lunch place, favorite teacher, personal update, etc.)

Along the top it shows the columns:
Author - who started that Topic - any registered user can start a Topic
Replies - how many people have replied to it;
Views - how many people have viewed it;
Last Post - who last posted to that topic and when they did it.

The column on the far left shows a circle with a little "page" in it...if the page is orange, that means there's a new post in that Topic. If it's white, there's not one. There's a key for all of this on the bottom of the page.

You can click each Topic to see how different people have responded and to respond to it yourself. Scroll all the way to the bottom of each one for the latest post - and who posted it.

Then you can respond if you want to by using the button (at the top and bottom) that says Post Reply. Then it's like an email page to complete. Or, if you want to start a new topic, click New Topic, and again, it's like an email.

If you want to switch to another Topic, use the "bread trail" that's next to the Post Reply or New Topic buttons at the bottom and top of each page. Click either term between the > to go back 1 or 2 pages. You could also use your browser (Internet Explorer or Mozilla or Safari) back button if you're more comfortable with that.

To make changes to your username, Foster suggested to re-register (create another account) with the name you prefer. Then just log on with that account and not use the first one you created. You can probably use the same password.

Another thing... Since this was created in London, the default for the system is London time (GMT). You can change it so that things show up as CST by going to the Time zone option and choosing GMT +6.

Other features…you can also see who else is on the site on the front page (Forum Index Page)= it's in the box below the Forum box. You can also email people privately (the PM button) right from their posts or from the Membership List (at the top of each page). This email is through the website. Otherwise, you can email them by clicking the Email button - this would go into their actual email account (yahoo, hotmail, etc.). Some people haven't given this option, however, so you would have to use the PM button to contact them.
